Just an Island to Break Things Up
This was a great kitchen functionally, but it needed some color thrown into all that natural wood. We met this couple at a home show where they said that they had a big island that needed to be refinished. The homeowner had painstakingly put the finish on all the cabinets years ago and did not want to go through that process again to give their island an upgraded look. They chose a really cool looking gray called Graphite by Benjamin Moore. It looks great and really breaks up the monotony of the wood floors that used to run together with the color of the cabinets.
The process of taping this kitchen was different than what we’re typically used to, in that we had to set up spring loaded plastic walls surrounding the island so that nothing got on the rest of the cabinets, so it looked like a spray booth around the island. It was actually kind of fun in its own sadistic kind of way…nobody enjoys taping and prepping!!!
